"That's right. Luke Morgavi. As I told your aide, ma'am, I'm an independent trader out of Boranda."
―Han Solo, to Incavi Baker while posing as "Luke Morgavi"[3]

Boranda was a celestial body[3] located in the Boranda system, a part of the Manda sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1] It was situated between the Holess and Manda systems on the Manda Merchant Route hyperlane.[2]

In 19 ABY,[4] the Human New Republic general Han Solo—who was being nostalgic for his prior smuggling career—negotiated his services for an illegal transportation of Jandarra vegetables to[3] the Inner Rim[5] planet[6] Shalam with Mayor Incavi Baker[3] of[7] the city Death on[3] the Outer Rim Territories[8] planet Jubilar. When introducing himself to Baker's aide and then to the mayor herself, Solo posed as "Luke Morgavi," an "independent trader" from Boranda.[3]

Behind the scenes

Boranda was first mentioned in "The Last One Standing: The Tale of Boba Fett," a short story by Daniel Keys Moran that was published in the 1996 anthology Tales of the Bounty Hunters.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Boranda system, and therefore Boranda itself, in grid square R-14.[2]
