The Boranall system was a star system located within the Doldur sector, in the Mid Rim region of the galaxy.[1] It contained the planet Boranall and two other habitable planets, and had a population of approximately 20 billion inhabitants in the Old Republic era.

According to Darth Marr and the Minister Davidge of Imperial Logistics, the Boranall system contained three habitable planets with a total population of 20 billion inhabitants, in the Old Republic Era.[2]

During the Second Great Galactic War, the Boranall system was under Imperial control. However, the population rebelled and took anti-Imperial actions, assisted by Republic forces.[

While Minister Davidge believed the Empire should leave the system and withdraw all forces because an expanded conflict there held little strategic value and would, at best, cost 0.4% and, at worst, 0.7% of the Empire's total production value, Darth Marr chose to amplify the Imperial presence in the system. He sought to secure the system and keep the population under control, fearing that a retreat would inspire other anti-Imperial worlds and systems to rebel against the Sith Empire.

Darth Marr then sent Darth Karrid, the newly appointed member of the Dark Council, to secure an Imperial victory.
