During the early reign of the Galactic Empire, a bombing was the result of a mission to Raven's Peak on the planet Eriadu by Clone Force 99 and Saw Gerrera's Partisans. The two groups worked together to infiltrate Raven's Peak, though each side had different objectives. Clone Force 99 sought to locate Doctor Royce Hemlock's whereabouts, and in turn, find and rescue their brother Crosshair, who had been held captive by Hemlock. The Partisans on the other hand sought to assassinate Governor Wilhuff Tarkin and used the clones in order to do so.[1]

History

Prelude

Around 18 BBY,[4] a Gozanti-class cruiser in the Balmorra system was raided by a group of rogue clone troopers. The cruiser, commanded by Captain Pearce, was successfully taken by the clones and its logs were taken by Echo. Echo brought the data logs to Pabu, hoping that Tech could decipher it. Tech's efforts proved successful, and he informed Clone Force 99 that Doctor Royce Hemlock of the Galactic Empire was experimenting on clones. These clones happened to include CT-9904 "Crosshair," a former member of Clone Force 99. Not long after, Crosshair attempted to escape from Mount Tantiss after Doctor Royce Hemlock failed to interrogate the clone in the Tantiss Base.[3]

The mission

Infiltration

When Bad Batch infiltrated Eriadu on Marauder, he used the transport sky rail to infiltrate the heavily guarded Raven's Peak. After the hunters took control of the hangar's control room, Omega and Wrecker attached a tracking device to Hemlock's shuttle. However, Echo noticed something suspicious in the facility, prompting Hunter and Tech to investigate. The two encountered Saw Gerrera in Sector 4 and learned about their plans.[1]

Sabotage and Escape

Hunter and Taek tried to persuade them to stop the bombing plan, but Gerrera insisted on assassinating the empire's dignitaries and refused to listen, even though Tech argued it would be more prudent to gather intelligence on the Empire's plans and that the Empire would merely replace the leadership he wipes out. In the end, they were found by TK Trooper guards, forcing Gerrera to partially abandon their plan and withdraw. The partisans took the low-class transport shuttle and escaped, activating the bombs they had planted. As a result, Hemlock's ship, which was equipped with a tracking device, was also destroyed. Meanwhile, Bad Batch escaped on the cable car,[1] but the vehicle broke down in the middle of the rail and stopped.[2]

Tech's Death

Although Tech managed to restore power, the rear vehicle was shot off the rails by the V-Wing Starfighter. Hanging from the rear vehicle, Tech shot through the connecting part of the vehicle to let even his comrades in the front vehicle escape. Due to Tech's self-sacrifice, Bad Batch managed to reach Marauder and escape from Eriadu.[2]

  4. 4.0 4.1 Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. Therefore, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "The Clone Conspiracy" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
