The bol was a species of mammal native to the planet of Dantooine. It was used primarily to produce milk, but also was a popular mount even outside of Dantooine. They were often hunted for their hide; however, due to over-hunting the population of bols was in steady decline. The hunting originated from the Dantooine Mining Outpost, where thousands of hunters and creature handlers gathered to hunt bols or to tame them. The bols usually frequented an area about a mile away from the outpost, so the hunters did not have to go far to kill them and destroy their homes. Bols produced milk.

Bols could be domesticated by skilled beast masters and used as mounts for transportation.^[4]

Bols appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,^[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.^[5] Bols were made craftable mounts for players with the release of the "Publish 4" on November 13, 2003.^[6] This feature was removed from the game upon the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.^[7] However, it was finally restored with the "Chapter 6" update, released on May 22, 2007.^[8]
