"Admiral Block, we're going to go ahead and descend. We're prepared to encounter resistance from the ground."
"Of course, General Kenobi. Do you wish the second wave to launch?"
"Yes, go ahead. Better safe than sorry."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Block communicate via comlink[1]

Block was an admiral of the Galactic Republic's navy, who served aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer Vigilance during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1] In 19 BBY,[2] Block commanded Republic naval forces as Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Quinlan Vos led an attack on the Confederacy's listening post on the[1] Outer Rim Territories[3] planet Vanqor. As the crew prepared to descend to the planet's surface, the admiral asked Kenobi whether he wanted to launch a second wave of fighters, to which the general accepted. Vos, who was secretly working with the Sith Lord Count Dooku, warned his master about the attack, and the Separatists were able to evacuate the facility before Republic forces arrived.[1]

Behind the scenes

Block appeared in the 2015 novel Dark Disciple, written by Christie Golden and adapted from an unfinished eight-episode story arc for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series that was written by Katie Lucas, Matt Michnovetz, and Dave Filoni.[1] Block was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the 2008 reference title The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, written by Stephen J. Sansweet, Pablo Hidalgo, and several others.[4]
