Black 2 was a TIE fighter assigned to Black Squadron. The starfighter was flown by TIE pilot "Mauler" Mithel,[1] and the craft was stationed aboard the first Death Star.[3]
The cockpit had twenty-seven flame emblems on it, each one representing a Rebel kill. Mithel placed a holo of his young son, Rejlii on the fighter's control yoke.[1] During the Battle of Yavin, Black 2 was destroyed after colliding with Darth Vader's TIE Advanced in the Death Star's meridian trench and subsequently crashing into the trench's wall.[3]
