Bir was a terrestrial astronomical object with waterfalls[1] that shared its name with the Outer Rim oceanic moon Kef Bir.[2] In 228 BBY,[3] during the High Republic Era, as the Hutt Churo was traveling aboard his starship, the Lucky Tortle, to[1] the Outer Rim[4] planet Aricho with his mentor—the Shani biologist Glenna Kip—the ship was attacked by Nihil scav droids.[1]
Upon seeing their destination was still thirty minutes away and knowing that the journey would be long, Churo thought about the things he had wanted to do but had yet to do, including exploring the waterfalls on Bir, which left him feeling that he had achieved nothing in life. The Hutt then came up with an idea to get the droids off the Lucky Tortle—a plan that, while successful, ultimately ended with the ship crashing on Aricho.[1]
Behind the scenes
Bir was mentioned in the 2025 junior novel The High Republic: A Valiant Vow, written by Justina Ireland as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[5]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: A Valiant Vow takes place nearly two years after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY.
