Bhatiqu was the lone city on the ice planet Thelj, situated in a temperate zone created by the planet's original settlers. It was covered by a dome. Thelj had been settled by the Galactic Republic as a potential colony[2] after approximately 682 BBY,[1] but froze over shortly after upon the sudden collapse of its sun. Nearly everyone unable to escape was killed. Bhatiqu and other settlements were made habitable after scientists discovered a method of using Thelj's planetary core to create vents of heated air through the use of atmospheric generators to create the temperate zones. The Graf family compound was located near Bhatiqu[2] around 382 BBY.[1]

Bhatiqu appeared in the 2022 young-adult novel The High Republic: Path of Deceit, written by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[2]
