Beti was a doll owned by the human Sylvestri Yarrow during her childhood. When her mother Chancey later gifted her a blaster rifle, Sylvestri named it "Beti" after the doll as a joke.[1] In 231 BBY,[2] Sylvestri recalled naming the blaster after the doll after she pulled the weapon out of its holster when she, her co-pilot Neeto Janajana, and the security droid M-227 discussed their options when the Nihil pirates wanted to scan their ship while in the Berenge sector.[1]
Behind the scenes
Beti was mentioned in the young-adult novel Out of the Shadows, written by Justina Ireland for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project[1] and published on July 27, 2021, as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[3] The doll's name was spelled "Betty" in a preview chapter published in the novel The High Republic: Into the Dark, written by Claudia Gray[4] and released on February 2 of the same year.[3]
