For other uses, see Beskad.

A beskad was a traditional[2] Mandalorian sword,[1] forged from beskar. Comprised of a broad, single-edged blade about the length of a grown human's arm[2] that widened toward the tip before tapering to a point,[1] the beskad was a heavy single-handed short sword, designed to crack armor and capable of delivering short, powerful slashes—similar to machete.[2] Two metal guards protected the wielder's hand at the top and base of the hilt.[1] The weapon was based on a design from the ancient Taung. Traditionally, it was accompanied by the kal dagger in the wielder's off hand.[2]

Behind the scenes

The beskad was first named by author Karen Traviss in her now-Legends e-novella Boba Fett: A Practical Man.[3]
