Twin beam cannon turrets mounted on an Infantry Support Platform

Twin beam cannon turrets mounted on an Infantry Support Platform

Beam cannon turrets were specially tuned laser weapons with a high output and long dwell time. They fired continuous beams of energy at a target for roughly three seconds, and then required a few seconds to recharge before firing again. These weapons hit incredibly hard, could punch through light and medium armor with ease, and had a tendency to set targets on fire. The Taim & Bak KB-50a beam cannon was a type of beam cannon turret that was mounted on some of the TX-130 Saber-class fighter tanks used by the Grand Army of the Republic.[1] Beam cannon turrets could also be mounted on the front of Infantry Support Platforms.[2]
