"I saw full-left-handed what this Grand Admiral Thrawn did to my world's defenses ten standardcycles ago, and with nothing more than seven Katana-fleet Dreadnoughts as his weapons."
―A Senator[1]

A battle involving the Imperial Remnant took place near a world in 9 ABY as a part of the Thrawn campaign, with seven of the Imperial Remnant's Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers commanded by Grand Admiral Thrawn attacking the planet's defenses. In 19 ABY, a Sronk Senator mentioned the battle during a session of the New Republic Senate concerning the alleged return of Thrawn.

Prelude

In 9 ABY,[2] the Imperial Remnant's Grand Admiral Thrawn acquired the Katana fleet in order to expand the Imperial Remnant's fleet for the Thrawn campaign.[3]

The battle

In that year,[2] Thrawn attacked the world's defenses with the Imperial Remnant's forces, made up of seven Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers from the Katana Fleet. The battle was witnessed by an Sronk who went on to become a Senator in the Senate of the New Republic.[1]

Aftermath

Later during 9 ABY,[2] Thrawn perished during a battle at the Bilbringi Shipyards.[1] In 19 ABY,[4] the Sronk Senator was present at a session of the New Republic Senate to discuss the threat of Thrawn's alleged return. When a Likashan Senator insisted the New Republic can overpower the Imperial Remnant and should destroy it, the Senator mentioned the battle of their homeworld and insisted that such attacks were doomed to fail, as Thrawn would not have announced his return if he was unprepared for the New Republic's attacks. In reality, Thrawn had not returned, and the alleged return was faked was Moff Vilim Disra using the conman Flim.[1]

Behind the scenes

The battle was mentioned in the novel Specter of the Past, written by Timothy Zahn and published in 1997 as part one of the Star Wars: The Hand of Thrawn Duology.[1]
