The Battle of New Holstice was a battle of the Clone Wars[3] which took place in 22 BBY[2] between the Separatist-aligned Mandalorian Protectors[3] and Galactic Republic forces, including the 327th Star Corps,[4] led by Clone Commander Bly and Jedi General Aayla Secura.[1] Although the battle was a victory for the Republic, ending with the full retreat of the Mandalorian forces,[1] the Protectors struck a serious blow,[3] bringing the strength of Bly's unit down to sixty percent.[1]

Behind the scenes

The aftermath of a battle between Commander Bly's Republic forces and a group of Mandalorians on New Holstice was first depicted in the 2004 Dark Horse Comics issue Republic 65.[1] The following year, Star Wars Insider 84's article "Guide to the Grand Army of the Republic" confirmed that the 327th Star Corps, Bly's unit, had fought at New Holstice,[4] while the 2009 Wizards of the Coast supplement Galaxy at War established that the Mandalorian Protectors had fought in the Battle of Holstice.[3] This article assumes that the events described in Republic 65, "Guide to the Grand Army of the Republic", and Galaxy at War are one and the same.

While Republic 65 originally established the Battle of New Holstice to have occurred seventeen months after the Battle of Geonosis,[1] changes to the timeline of the Clone Wars necessitated by the Star Wars: The Clone Wars multimedia project moved the battle back to 22 BBY.[2]
