A baton was a type of handheld club that was used by police forces for various purposes including crowd control.
Coruscant Security Force police droids carried them on Coruscant.
Batons were used by Imperial Detention Block Guards to pacify rioting prisoners.
Varieties of batons included nonlethal stunning models such as the stun baton and the energy baton. Another variant was the collapsible snap baton.
