"Barrier override."
"No, you can't."
"You no longer issue orders here."
"No this will destroy the Barrier. It's essential to our survival. I can give your ship access instead."
―Jod Na Nawood talking to Fara[1]

The Barrier override was a lever in the Supervisor's Tower on the planet At Attin that completely deactivated the Barrier defense surrounding the planet.[1]

Around 9 ABY,[2] while looking for a way to get[1] his[3] frigate through the Barrier, the pirate Jod Na Nawood found a button labeled "Barrier override" in the Supervisor's Tower. After pressing the button, the override level rose up from the floor. Undersecretary Fara warned Na Nawood that it would destroy the Barrier and offered to grant his ship access instead. Later, the younglings Fern and Wim tried to pull the override lever to allow New Republic forces past the Barrier to repel the pirates, but were prevented from doing so. After Wim's father, Wendle, punched Na Nawood,[1] he,[4] too, tried to pull the lever, but Na Nawood held him back using the Force. Ultimately, Fara helped Wendle pull the lever and the Barrier deactivated in a flare of light.[1]

Behind the scenes

The barrier override appeared in "The Real Good Guys,"[1] the eighth episode of the Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which aired on January 14, 2025.[5]

  2. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition, SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well. StarWars.com SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
