Baron of the Empire,[3] also known as Baron of the Imperial Navy,[4] Flight Baron,[5] or simply baron, was a title given to decorated TIE fighter pilots of the Galactic Empire's military. To signify their status, they had the right to bear red markings[1] on their otherwise all-black flight suits and helmets.[2] Such barons included Valen Rudor,[6] Soontir Fel,[7] and Titan Three.[5] The First Order later drew inspiration from the Imperial barons' flashes of red when designing the helmets of their First Order Special Forces.[1]
