Bantha ticks were parasites that feasted off of the large hairy mammal, the bantha.[1]

Behind the scenes

The bantha tick was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the nineteenth issue of the 2020 comic series Star Wars: Bounty Hunters. The issue was written by Ethan Sacks, illustrated by Ramon Bachs, and published by Marvel Comics[1] on December 29, 2021.[2] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, a bantha tick was first mentioned in "You're in the Army Now!", an adventure for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published in May 1994.[3]
