The Bann Pu'dira was an artifact of the Ashiga Clan that dated back to the early days of the hive.[1]
In 3 ABY,[2] the Crimson Dawn syndicate stole the Bann Pu'dira from the clan on the Mid Rim planet Kijimi. After the theft, the Dawn stored the artifact at a private club called The Wellspring, which served as their headquarters on the planet. The Ashiga launched an investigation into the theft and eventually confirmed that it was in fact the Dawn that stole the artifact. As a result Queen Ashiga instituted decree 53795-2 which put the Kijimi City spaceports and as well as the city's Thieves' Quarter under surveillance.[1]
Later the same year,[2] the scoundrel Kay Vess, traveled to Kijimi looking for a Chadra-Fan explosive expert named Ank Parako in order to recruit her for a job. After finding out that Parako had been captured by the Ashiga Clan and later learning of the thief of the Bann Pu'dira, Vess decided to steal back the artifact for the clan, hoping to gain favor with the clan and get them to release Parako. Vess proceeded to sneak into The Wellspring through a vent system. Inside she disabled the security barrier around the Bann Pu'dira and retrieved the artifact. After escaping The Wellspring Vess made her way to the Ashiga Clan Stronghold where she was able to preset the artifact to the Queen in person which did increase her standing with the clan however not enough to convince the clan to release Parako.[1]
