A baffler, also called a sensor baffle, was a device that was used to hide sensor emissions.
Characteristics
Sensor baffles came in a variety of sizes and types, and were used on everything from droids to starships. In 5000 BBY, Relin Druur and Drev Hassin's Infiltrator starfighter was equipped with a baffler and a scrambler to help hide the fighter's signature.
The RA-7 protocol droid had sensor bafflers that were disguised as soldering welds. The bafflers prevented the droid's surveillance unit from being detected by routine scans.[1]
