"For my new gallery's debut show, I contrast the sterility of urban life with the pure, unmediated vigor of Nature."
―Bab Esrus, to a spacer[2]

Bab Esrus was a Human female biosculptor who lived on the Mid Rim world of Naboo during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography

Following the Battle of Yavin, Bab Esrus owned art galleries on Naboo where she exposed her work. As a biosculptor, she used to perform sculptures from the body of dead creatures. For this purpose, she often paid hunters to sacrifice wild animals for her. Thus, she recommended non-invasive termination to maintain the integrity and beauty of the specimens.[2]

In 1 ABY,[3] Esrus was present in the city of Moenia where she hired a spacer to perform several tasks. First, the individual was sent to retrieve genetic material — pigmentation-production chromosomes of the common capper spineflap — from the scientist Dega Coronis. Later, the spacer escorted another scientist, Pol Teiroburc, near Moenia and protected him from a mott bull attack. Eventually, the adventurer delivered a cage containing a Kowakian monkey-lizard with multicolored blood to a noble known as Lady Ilsan Raetura. During the delivery, they were attacked by a Gungan scout but the spacer was able to eliminate him.[1]

Behind the scenes

"I plan to join the ranks of the many artisans and entertainers on scenic Naboo. Its cities offer many sidewalk cafes where I can watch the world go by, and perhaps entice shock-wounded players to let me serenade them on my kloo horn. (I feel sure those players could not imagine a more pleasant pastime.) In the artists' retreat of Moenia, I shall consort with noted playwright Randanthus Mandelatara and biosculptor Bab Esrus."
―Allen Varney (SWG writer)[4]

Bab Esrus was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] Bab Esrus could be found in the city of Moenia where she gave three completable missions.[1] However, these quests were bugged and lacked any text dialogue strings, rendering it impossible to have derived much context from them.[1][6] Bab Esrus was eventually removed from the game by its developers.

  3. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
