The BT-16 was a piece of technology used in the Galactic Empire. It was considered new[1] as of 0 BBY.[2] When the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi deactivated the first Death Star's tractor beam to allow the Millennium Falcon to leave Docking Bay 327, he overheard two stormtroopers conversing about the BT-16.[1]
Behind the scenes
The subtitles on Disney+ identifies it as VT-16.[1] Voice actor Sam Witwer added lines spoken by stormtroopers in other Star Wars films that referenced the scene which mentioned the BT-16 by mentioning the T-15, T-16, T-17 and T-18.[3] In Star Wars Legends, the BT-16 was a perimeter droid model.[4]
