- "Ays Varga. Ex-empire. A brilliant superweapons engineer."
- ―EE'zok
Ays Varga was a human superweapons engineer who served the Galactic Empire.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] Varga defected from the Empire, intending to join the Crimson Dawn criminal syndicate through the contract broker EE'zok on the planet Tatooine. However, Varga instead made a deal with pirates, who then sold her out to the Empire.[1]
After Varga stopped answering communications, EE'zok dispatched the scoundrel Kay Vess to find her. Vess located Varga anfter discovering she had been captured by a pirate, who was holding her hostage to claim a reward for turning her in to the Imperials. Vess rescued her from the pirate and escaped Imperial forces, bringing her to the moon of Toshara about the EML-850 freighter Trailblazer.[1] Upon arrival above the world, Bib Fortuna, who had an interest in Ays’ skills, demanded she be brought to the Hutts instead. Kay Vess would leave it up to Ays to decide, and advised her on who she believed was better.
Behind the scenes
Ays Varga appeared in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws, featuring in the syndicate quest "Defector." After the player, as Vess, rescues Varga from Tatooine, the Hutt Cartel also expresses interest in recruiting her. The engineer is unsure, and the player can convince her to either join Crimson Dawn or the Hutts. If Crimson Dawn is chosen, Varga is brought to Eleera Soi; if the player sides with the Hutts, Verrick instead meets the engineer.[1]
