The Aur system was a star system in the Colonies located near[2] the planet[3] Phu.[2] The system contained at least eleven orbital positions, with the ninth and tenth positions being filled by the planets Aur IX and Aur X, which were in fact diamonds the size of terrestrial worlds. These huge gems were believed to have once sat at the cores of gas giants. The eleventh orbital position was occupied by a cloud of diamond fragments. These unusual features, termed the Aur Diamonds, led to speculation that the system had been a creation of the ancient Celestial species.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Aur system was originally meant to be mentioned in the 2012 source book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart, however the sidebar that would have mentioned the system was cut before the book's release. The information regarding the system was then released in 2013 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Jason Fry and Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.[2] An update to the StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Fry, placed the Aur system in grid square J-13.[1]
