- "Mon Calamari, Agamar and Bakura have all reported similar attacks."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi
During the Dark Reaper crisis of the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems launched an attack on Mon Calamari.
The attack
After the recovery of the Force Harvester on Raxus Prime and a first test on Alaris Prime, Count Dooku unleashed the device on other worlds such as Mon Calamari, Agamar and Bakura.[1]
Aftermath
The devastation caused by the Force Harvester frightened many Mon Calamari and Quarren into cooperating with the Separatists, despite the Calamarian Council's initial rejection of Dooku's offer to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[4]
However, some viewed this event as an opportunity to win glory away from Mon Calamari Space. Among those were Commander Merai, a decorated hero of the Quarren War, who willingly joined the Separatist cause. Later, Commander Merai received the honor of leading Separatist troops against Republic forces in the Battle of Kamino.[4]
Behind the scenes
The 2004 sourcebook Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds mistakenly states that Mon Calamari was attacked by the Dark Reaper superweapon.[4] The planet was actually attacked by its power source, the Force Harvester.[2]
