- "What is this place?"
"I don't know, I've never seen anything like it, not even in Atlantis." - ―Short Round and Indiana Jones while aboard the remains of the Millennium Falcon
Atlantis was a location that was at one point visited by Doctor Indiana Jones. While exploring the wreck of a YT-1300 light freighter called the Millennium Falcon on the planet Earth, Jones commented to his companion Short Round that he had never witnessed a place like it, including in Atlantis.[1]
Behind the scenes
Indiana Jones explored Atlantis in Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
Atlantis was mentioned in "Into the Great Unknown," a non-canon comic written by Haden Blackman and published by Dark Horse Comics in Star Wars Tales' nineteenth issue[1] on May 14, 2004.[2] The comic portrays a crossover with the Indiana Jones franchise, in which the eponymous character had explored the ancient lost city of Atlantis in the Dark Horse Comics series Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis,[3] the first issue of which was released on March 1, 1991.[4] The series adapted the 1992 LucasArts video game of the same name.[5] Prior to the game's release, Atlantis was mentioned in a Star Wars related source in a preview for the game that was included in the third issue of the LucasArts magazine The Adventurer, released in Fall 1991.[6] In the real world, Atlantis is a legendary sunken island described in the dialogues of Plato,[7] an Ancient Greek philosopher.[8]
