The Atiang ceremony held in the

The Atiang ceremony held in the Eanca Goa-Ato

The Atiang, or The Awards, were the annual hunting awards given by the Goa-Ato to successful bounty hunters. It was the highest honor for a Rodian to achieve this prize.[1]

The Prize

The prize had the form of a Holotrophy, along with 100,000 credits, and a small metal insignia to be worn when desired (for those hunters who liked to show off). The holotrophy displaying the award also could play back recordings that verified the holder's exploits. The winners were also enshrined in the Awards Hall itself.[1]

The Guild would give these prestigious honors out in typically nine categories, depending on the verifiable circumstances, as judged by the panel:

Best Shot
Typically for dead prey (the most popular award).
Most Notorious Capture
Longest Trail
Time and distance are taken into account
Quickest Catch
Takes into account the time between the bounty proclamation and the capture.
Most Difficult Hunt
Most Captures
Awarded to the hunter who had most verifiable captures over the past year.
Most Resourceful Capture
Novice of the Year
Awarded to new hunters allowed off-planet; recipients usually had previous experience on Rodia.
Greatest Accuracy with a Distance Blaster
Given for shots of 200 meters or more. It is the least prestigious of the categories.

Procedure and ceremony

The Hunters' Guild Hall in Iskaayuma had a Chronicle Room where hunters and witnesses could register their testimonies at all times. Apart from valuing the captured individual (or their remains), a committee examined recordings, witness reports, the accounts of the employer and/or the prey; preference was shown to the hunter's and eywitnesses's first-hand accounts than distant reports.[1]

The Atiang were given at the Guild Hall. Finalists were notified well in advance so they could attend the ceremony. The event was broadcast around Rodia and to other worlds with significant Rodian populations. The ceremony lasted for more than 14 hours, as after each winner was announced, their verification recordings were displayed.[1]

For days after the ceremony, the verification recordings of the finalists were also broadcast to honor those who almost made it, though there were no awards for second place.[1]
