The Assailer was a Raider-class corvette that, during the Imperial Era, formed part of the Imperial Navy. The corvette boasted sublight engines[1] and measured 150 meters in length.[2]

Behind the scenes

Notable mentions

The Assailer was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a card of the same name in the Huge Ship Conversion Kit, an expansion for Fantasy Flight Games' miniatures game Star Wars: X-Wing Second Edition[3] that was released on November 8, 2019.[4]

Artwork of the Assailer used in the Huge Ship Conversion Kit was created for the Star Wars Legends continuity release Imperial Raider Expansion Pack, part of the first edition of Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game.[5] In this continuity, the Assailer was first shown in "Here Comes the Imperial Raider," a preview for the expansion published on December 19, 2014. The corvette's name was obscured in the preview,[6] with the name Assailer first mentioned in another preview, "The Will of the Empire," published on August 10, 2015.[7]

Discrepancies and unreleased products

A card titled "Assailer" used artwork of the Instigator.

In the Huge Ship Conversion Kit, the card titled "Assailer" featured artwork[3] used on all previous depictions the Raider-class corvette Instigator.[8][9] Similarly, the card titled "Instigator" featured artwork[1] previously used to depict the Assailer in the Legends Imperial Raider Expansion Pack.[5] The 2020 Upgrade Card Collection for Star Wars Armada then reverted to the original artwork of the Instigator.[10] Since other misprints were reported in the Huge Ship Conversion Kit,[11] this article assumes the names of both cards were erroneously swapped.

A card named Assailer was intended to be released in the Imperial Raider Expansion Pack for X-Wing Second Edition,[12] which was announced on August 7, 2019;[13] however, the expansion was never released.
