Apprentice Inquisitors were the aspiring agents of the secret Imperial Intelligence division known as the Inquisitorius. Despite not being full Inquisitors, known Apprentice Inquisitors like Brakiss were sent on field assignments for training. One of the best known of these operations was when Brakiss infiltrated the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4. Luke Skywalker was, however, aware of the infiltrator's true allegiances, yet sought to draw the young man to the light side. In a training exercise, Brakiss discovered the darkness in his spirit, and went on the run. Providing the Inquisitorius with data gathered from the Praxeum, he then went to seek his own fate.
Apprentice Inquisitor could also refer to a member of the Inquisition who was apprenticed to another Inquisitor. Such as Renefra Ren who was an apprentice to the Inquisitor Probus Tesla who was at one point an apprentice to Inquisitor Kuthara.
