Apple slug sauce was a sauce made with apple slugs.[1] Prior to its destruction during the first two years of the Galactic Empire's reign,[2] the eatery known as Dex's Diner on the planet Coruscant offered the sauce as a lunch side. The diner sold apple slug sauce for 2.7 credits.[1]
Behind the scenes
Apple slug sauce was mentioned in "Dining at Dex's," a 2009 Hyperspace-exclusive article which was written by Gregory Walker and formatted as an in-universe menu.[1] Walker included references to apple slugs in the article due to his fondness for abandoned concepts,[3] as apple slugs were slated to appear in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, but were cut from the final movie.[4]

- ↑ The Last of the Jedi: Underworld states that Dex's Diner was destroyed by the Galactic Empire, and The Essential Reader's Companion places the novel around 18 BBY. Since The New Essential Chronology states that the Empire was formed in 19 BBY, Dex's Diner was destroyed in either 19 BBY or 18 BBY.
