Anbert Dregil grunts while pulling his cart

Anbert Dregil, also known as "Long Arms" and "Ol' Gundark," was a Kogini who worked as a scrap merchant and stevedore in Olega City on the planet Olega during the High Republic Era. In 132 BBY, the street urchin Guthan Archi stole a rock from a cart Dregil was pulling through the streets of the city.

Biography

Walking with his knuckles on the ground, Anbert Dregil hauls a cart of rocks through the night-time streets of Olega City, with a shielded door to the Jedi Temple visible behind him.

Anbert Dregil worked as a hauler in Olega City.

Anbert Dregil was a Kogini who worked in Olega City on the planet Olega as a scrap merchant, hired hauler, stevedore, and collector of camera equipment during the High Republic Era.[1] He[2] was known around the city by nicknames like "Long Arms" and "Ol' Gundark,"[1] the latter referencing a type of burly predator.[3] In 132 BBY,[4] he pulled a cart full of rocks behind him[2] past the Olega Jedi temple[5] at dusk[2] while grunting.[5]

Near the temple's entryway, the street urchin[5] Guthan Archi[1] ran up to Dregil's cart and stole one of the rocks to throw at the Jedi's[5] gatekeeper droid, TT-8L-OT,[1] but the Kogini continued without noticing. The following night, Dregil walked with a humanoid down one of the city's streets near the Olega Apothecary[5] as local vendors shut their shops for the night.[2]

Personality and traits

A burly individual[1] with a large upper body,[2] Dregil had yellow eyes and yellowy-brown skin.[1]

Equipment

He wore a purple cowl with a gray metal headpiece, gray pants, and several brown straps on his arms while pulling his cart. A brown object made of three incomplete circles hung from his belt.[1]

Behind the scenes

"A better look at my "Long Arms" character from Star Wars The Acolyte: Episode 2 Revenge/Justice
When I first saw his maquette in the workshop, he looked to me to be a very distant cousin of the Rancor Monster
A much shorter cousin of course but just as handsome nevertheless 🙂

Anbert Dregil first appeared in "Revenge / Justice,"[5] the second episode of the live-action Disney+ television series Star Wars: The Acolyte, which aired on June 4, 2024.[7] The alien costume was physically portrayed by Nick Kellington, requiring great strength,[8] with puppeteer Mike Quinn controlling the animatronic face with an RC unit.[9]

Kellington referred to the creature as "Long Arms" and thought it looked similar to a rancor upon first seeing a maquette of the character in the creature workshop.[6] The Olega scenes including the vendor were shot at Shinfield Studios,[10] England.[11] The character was not identified in the episode[5] but was named in the 2025 reference book Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]

Selkath's face (eyes & mouth) in the Jedi Temple, costume performed by Liam Cook. The cart puller (face), costume performed by Nick Kellington, who exhibited superhuman strength 🤣. The third was TT-8L-0T the entry droid, performing the entrance, exit and head up/down on the closeups. All super fun and amazing builds from the entire CFX team. This stuff looks so good and is capable of much more scrutiny that is seen on screen. It's that good! Even for the background creatures. Well done every single person involved! Also a shoutout to the amazing crew who supported and championed us, helped us look beautiful on camera (and encouraged me to say naughty things with my animatronics 😉)." (backup link)
