The Alsakan Conflicts were a series of conflicts that saw the first deployment of capital ships that matched the scale of those used in the later Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War. This "dreadnought era" ended with the development of cutting-edge turbolasers that could tear apart ray shields, therefore rendering large warships obsolete.[2] The conflicts shared their name with Alsakan, an astronomical object located in the Core Worlds.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the new Star Wars canon, the Alsakan Conflicts were first mentioned in the 2021 reference book Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy.[2] The conflicts originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, in which they were first mentioned in Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook, a 1993 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Michael Allen Horne and published by West End Games.[4]
