The All Terrain Defense Pod (AT-DP) was a bipedal Imperial walker, a variant of the AT-ST. It featured a heavily armored head with a single mobile laser cannon mounted beneath its chin, and narrow slits on the right and left sides of the cockpit, from which crewmembers could fire at flanking threats. The walker was deployed as a police vehicle on planets where rebel unrest seemed probable, as well as patrol missions. Overall, the AT-DP was quite similar to the All Terrain Advance Raider with which it shared the armored cockpit and central laser cannon.[1]

Behind the scenes

The All Terrain Defense Pod was first mentioned in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the 2014 reference book Star Wars: Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide, written by Daniel Wallace and published by becker&mayer!.[1] Although it was released after April 2014's split of the canon/Legends continuities and the creation of the rule that any works released after that date are to be designated canon, becker&mayer! has confirmed that the Imperial Handbook is branded as Star Wars Legends, meaning it is not part of the current canon.[2] The All Terrain Defense Pod was developed for the canon television series Star Wars Rebels based on an unused 1979 concept art by Joe Johnston[3] and had first appeared earlier that year in the browser game Star Wars Rebels: Ghost Raid[4] released on July 16, 2014.[5]
