An ak was a bird of prey from Bothawui,[1] a Mid Rim planet[2] that was the homeworld of the sentient Bothan species.[3] Among the Bothans, "Ak" was also a family name.[1]

The ak was mentioned in the 2003 reference book Galactic Campaign Guide, written by Peter M. Schweighofer and J.D. Wiker and published by Wizards of the Coast for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game.[1]
