Aikhibba was a Mid Rim planet located in the Fei Hu sector. Situated on the Gamor Run hyperspace route, it had become a part of the Galactic Republic by 17,000 BBY, and around that time, it was also a part of the Exploitation Region that was controlled by the Core Worlds–based trading conglomerates known as the Grand Companies. Around the time of the Galactic Empire's reign, the smuggler Lo Khan made a highly profitable smuggling run to Aikhibba, where the crime lord Spadda lived, by delivering them a spice shipment from the royal governor of the Thokosia system.
Description
Aikhibba was a planet[4] located in the Aikhibba system, a part of the Fei Hu sector[1] of the Slice portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1] It was situated on the Gamor Run hyperspace route, which linked it to the Hoylin system as well as the Charra system of the Expansion Region.[2]
History
Lo Khan once undertook a highly profitable smuggling run to Aikhibba.
Aikhibba was a part of the Galactic Republic by 17,000 BBY. Around that time, which saw the beginning of a millennia-long series of conflicts between the planet Alsakan; the Republic's capital world, Coruscant; and their respective allies, Aikhibba—which was aligned with Coruscant—was situated in the Exploitation Region, which was a territory actively controlled by the Grand Companies—Coruscant-affiliated trading conglomerates based along the Core Worlds hyperlane known as the Spin.[3]
At some point around the time of the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Hutt crime lord Spadda came to live at Aikhibba, and the royal governor of the Thokosia system[5] of the Maerdocian sector[6] once hired the smuggler Uxbeg to transport a shipment of spice to the Hutt. Before Uxbeg could pick the cargo up, however, it was intercepted by the smuggler's rival, Lo Khan, who delivered it himself. Upon delivering the cargo to Aikhibba, Khan was surprised to learn that the recipient of the shipment was indeed the crime lord Spadda themselves, and ultimately the smuggler was richly rewarded.[5] Although Aikhibba was just a minor stop for smugglers on the Gamor Run,[4] it was nevertheless a center of smuggling operations, which it remained at least until 27 ABY.[7]
Behind the scenes
Aikhibba was first mentioned in the Dark Empire Sourcebook, Michael Allen Horne's 1993 sourcebook published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Aikhibba system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square P-13.[2]
