During the Imperial Era the Mining Guild sent agents to patrol and represent its interests in the spice mines on the planet Kessel in order to make sure the it got its cut of the profits. The local Pyke Syndicate agreed to the guild employees being there, but often disagreed with them on tactics for running the mine, as the criminals preferred less bureaucratic and more brutal methods of security.[1]
Organization
The agents of the Mining Guild present on Kessel wore white coveralls along with white gloves, a brown bandolier, and a white mask and a datafeed headset and red goggles. The coveralls were marked with red sigils denoting one of the houses of the Mining Guild. Some of the agents also beige helmets while others didn't.[2]
History
Yorsh Manted and another guild employee on Kessel in 10 BBY.
In 10 BBY,[3] Yorsh Manted and another agent of the Mining Guild accompanied the Pyke capo Quay Tolsite when he traveled to one of the mine's landing pads to meet the crew of the YT-1300 light freighter Millennium Falcon. The crew was led by the human Qi'ra who claimed to be a slaver and offered her captives Han Solo and Chewbacca as a sample of her product. Manted and the other guild employee checked the two slaves and upon signaling that they were satisfied, Tolsite had Solo and Chewbacca taken away while he took Qi'ra to discuss business. Tolsite led Qi'ra and her partners Tobias Beckett and L3-37 to the control room of the mine where other agents were working.
The Falcon's crew however were actually on Kessel to steal the Pyke's coaxium. Beckett and Qi'ra killed Tolsite, his guards, and the agents stationed in the room, and L3 started a revolt in which the slaves overthrew their Pyke overseers.[2]
Behind the scenes
The agents first appeared as a minor role in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story[2] and were first described in the accompanying reference book Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo, but remained unnamed.[1]
