An affide crystal was a poisonous substance. According to Imperial documentation, some members of the Rebel Alliance would have an affide crystal hidden under a waterproof barrier in a false tooth. If captured and facing interrogation via torture, she or he could commit suicide rather than divulge information, by prying the crystal loose with the tongue and releasing the poison.
