Aehrrley Rue[2] was a humanoid[1] male freelance pilot.[2] He[3] frequented Mos Espa,[2] a city on the planet Tatooine,[4] during the Boonta Eve Classic[2] in 32 BBY. In that year,[5] he was in the stands of the Mos Espa Grand Arena, cheering when the podracer Sebulba passed through the arena in the lead for the race's first lap, before it was another podracer, Anakin Skywalker, who won in the end.[1] Rue wore a black and yellow spacesuit.[2]
Behind the scenes
Aehrrley Rue first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, the first film in the prequel trilogy. Within the film, two extras in the same outfit are onscreen in the streets of Mos Espa, before a later scene when one extra is visible among the podracing spectators.[1] In 2001, the name of Aehrrley Rue was first established in the Boonta Eve Podrace expansion set of Decipher's Young Jedi Collectible Card Game, with an image of an individual wearing the black and yellow jumpsuit[3] taken from the Mos Espa streets in The Phantom Menace.[1] It was only in 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia where Rue was further established to be the extra in-universe in the podracing scene.[2]
