Bio

Adam Nichols is an award-winning Australian Concept Designer and Art Director that worked for Krome Studioswhose creative vision has left a lasting mark on the Star Wars universe. With over two decades of experience in the entertainment and video game industries, Nichols collaborated with LucasArts on the 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and the 2010 video game as Lead Concept Artist on Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, contributing concept art for key characters, space ships and environments across both titles. He also assisted in textures, VFX, environment domes and intro cutscene planet sequences as well as user interface design and marketing artwork collaterals.

His work on these projects stands alongside other Krome Studio's concept artists including Steve Stamatiadis, Mark Douglas, Richard Lyons, Jeremy Love, and Christian Ronquillo.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Adam Nichols contributed concept art to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, helping shape the game’s cinematic environments across ten key levels—Kashyyyk, TIE Fighter Construction Yard, Raxus Prime, Felucia, Empirical Lab, Cloud City, Kashyyyk, Felucia, Raxus Prime, and the Death Star — while also designing the Gungan bounty hunter Kleef, IG-1, as well as Rahm Kota along with many others.

Clone Wars: The Republic Heroes

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, Nichols served as a lead concept designer, creating the formidable Kul Teska, a Skakoan supervillain whose cybernetic enhancements and quad-cannon arm made him a standout boss character. Kul Teska’s design was later adapted into a Hasbro action figure, released as part of The Clone Wars Collection.

His work contributed across the game’s full campaign of worlds including: Ryloth, Juma 9 Station, Alzoc III, and Behpour.

Other Career Highlights

Beyond Star Wars, Adam Nichols has collaborated with global studios including Warner Bros., Konami, EA, Activision, Microsoft, and Atari. His portfolio spans blockbuster titles such as Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy, Hellboy: The Science of Evil, Fruit Ninja, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, and Mini Motor Racing — the latter earning Apple’s Casual Game of the Year.

Nichols is the founder of SkullStar Studios, a creative agency specializing in concept design, illustration, branding, and UX/UI. He also established Nichols Publishing, releasing The Art of Adam Nichols Vol. 1 and the acclaimed theory guide Understanding Colour.

Nichols Brothers

Adam Nichols is the younger brother of Wayne Nichols, a professional comic artist who illustrated the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed comic series for Dark Horse Comics. The comic featured many of Adam’s original concept designs from the game, adapted into sequential comic format further cementing the brothers’ creative synergy within the Star Wars franchise.
