An actuating module was a modification that could be added to a blaster for 500 credits. Mercenaries, bounty hunters, and others used the modules because it provided extra power to a weapon, although it also increased the weapon's recoil.[1]
In 3 ABY[3] the scoundrel Kay Vess used actuating modules to modify the firing rate and power of her VM-19 heavy blaster pistol.[2]
Behind the scenes
Actuating modules were first mentioned in the canon continuity in Gadgets and Gear, a roleplaying supplementary sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series that was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2019.[1] They first appeared as blaster upgrade components in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws.[2]
The modules first appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity in Rescue at Glare Peak, a roleplaying adventure module for Star Wars: Age of Rebellion published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2014.[4]
