The Big Bang Theory Wiki:Templates

There are many templates that are used in The Big Bang Theory Wiki and these below are only subset that are representing some of the most important and commonly used ones. If you feel that a template belongs on this page, do not hesitate to add it. If somehow placed incorrectly, administrators will correct it for you.

  • Category:Templates should list all templates that are used in the wiki
  • Categorized further into other the various subcategories

Note: Some of these templates as well as some categorizes are case sensitive. If type incorrectly, it will results in being a red undirected link.

  • For example: {{WelcomeIP}} versus {{welcomeip}}
  • Just do some extra research on that particular template or category and type again


What are templates?

Wiki templates provide a means to insert the same content over and over in different (or the same) pages. These saves editors the hassle of duplicating the same text again and again, and also helps provide consistency.

Templates are generally shown with the format required to use the template. Clicking the template name takes you to the template's page, where you can see what it looks like and how it is used correctly.

Detailed instructions on the usage of each template should exist either on the template page, or the template's talk page.

For articles, there are several common used.

Administrative templates

There are also administrative templates that are primarily used by the admin only. But there some templates that are accessible to the regular user.

Nominate an article for deletion

  • User add this to an article that they want to nominate for deletion. It will add the article to Category:Candidates for deletion. Some examples of which articles can be nominated:
    • Broken Links
    • Unneccessary articles
    • Articles that are deemed inapproiate to the Big Bang Theory Wiki.

I'm sure you can think of other examples, if you feel it should be deleted. Add it into the categories and we can discuss it further.

  • This is primarily used to link into the homepage of the Big Bang Theory Wiki

Clear

{{clr}}

  • This template is used to reduce the amount of non-wikicode used on pages, replacing the code <br style="clear:both;" />. Its use should generally be avoided.
