Plot

The episode begins with Georgie and Mandy getting back into bed at night, with Georgie discussing if they can spend thanksgiving at his mom's house, since it's the first since his dad passed, to which Mandy agrees and approves his idea. But as Georgie asks who's gonna tell Audrey, the couple ponders over the idea a little, before Mandy chases him around the room with her bottle of lotion. The next morning as Jim and Georgie are leaving for work, Georgie seeks permission from Audrey to spend thanksgiving with his mom. While initially approving, Audrey suddenly starts accusing Georgie of thinking of her as insensitive and selfish. But just as the argument was about to explode, Jim saves Georgie by calling out that he's late for work.

The scene now shifts to Mary, who's working at the church and is visited by Georgie. He mentions that he wanted to drop off some of CeeCee's old clothes and also asks Mary if he can spend Thanksgiving at her home. Mary declines remarking that Sheldon's in school and Missy's going to visit her friend. She also mentions that it'll be hard to celebrate without George Sr. Georgie invites Mary for the thanksgiving dinner at the McAllisters, but she declines it again because of being faced with Audrey. A small argument ensues, with Georgie trying to invite Mary over, but she holds her stand and leaves.

Later that evening, Georgie arrives for dinner at the McAllisters, and Mandy asks how the meeting went, to which he replies that Mary doesn't want to celebrate thanksgiving at all. Georgie shows concern over his mother being all alone during the holidays, to which Mandy agrees. Later that night, Georgie tries to persuade Missy into celebrating the festival, by saying that their Mom needs this, but Missy states that what Mary needs is a lobotomy, before hanging up. Mandy tries, but to no avail. Meanwhile, the McAllisters are preparing to sleep, and Audrey and Jim talk about how sweet of Georgie it is to think about his mom for the holidays, and how Mandy might probably stick Audrey up in a Retirement home the first chance she gets. Jim rebuffs by saying that Connor will probably end up being Audrey's roommate in that situation.

The following day, Mandy brings Georgie's lunch to his workplace and visits Jim. They both talk about cheering him up and how moody he'd been lately. Jim reveals that he snapped at a customer who wished him for thanksgiving. The duo bond over how they thought they'd be celebrating many holidays as an extended family, on how short life is and how they should be there for each other, before Mandy leaves. Mandy apporaches Connie (Meemaw) and Dale, and reveals that she's worried about Georgie and the entire "Thanksgiving" situation. Connie tells Mandy that they should give Mary some time, and reveals how miserable she herself (Connie) was after her husband passed. Mandy invites her for thanksgiving, but Connie reveals that she already made plans with Dale, only to soon cancel them in favour of Mandy's plan. Dale stands shocked, wondering what happened in those 20 seconds he was out of the room, and Connie reveals that they shall spend thanksgiving with Georgie.

Later that day, Mandy tries to invite Missy over to their place for thanksgiving, but Missy persuades Mandy into getting her a tattoo in her ankle. A brief tug-of-war ensues between both on the phone, but Mandy eventually gives in. Missy yells in pain as a Dolphin is tattooed on her ankle, to which Mandy affirms, much to her chagrin. A little later, Mandy proceeds to visit Mary to invite her over. But Mary immediately rebuffs, saying that she doesn't know how hard it is to lose a husband, and that this is what Mary need for now, and Mandy apologises and leaves. Back at the McAllister's, after a brief altercation with Audrey, Mandy reveals to Georgie that all except Mary are coming over for the Thanksgiving dinner. Georgie is impressed and he thanks her, but then he asks how she convinced Missy into this. Mandy bluffs up by saying that Missy likes her so much.

The next morning, the family is preparing for thanksgiving, while Jim starts to chug on his second beer. Audrey tries to stop him, but quickly gets rebuffed. Connor shows up all dressed up but without taking a bath, and is told off by Jim to do so. Meanwhile, Meemaw, Dale and Missy arrive and are greeted by Georgie and Mandy. Mandy secretly appreciates Missy wearing socks to cover up her tattoo. A little later, as Jim, Meemaw and Dale conversate while watching sports, Missy helps Georgie set the table. He thanks her for coming over, and follows up by asking what Mandy bribed her with, while she bluffs that she asked her nicely. At this juncture, Connor walks in with his accordion and plays his Thanksgiving polka and Turkey call, entertaining the family and the guests. Dale suggests to join along with his guitar but is immediately stopped by Meemaw.

A little into the evening, someone rings the doorbell at the McAllisters', and Georgie rushes to attend. It is revealed to be none other than Mary Cooper herself. Georgie is delighted to have her for dinner and invites her in. As the family digs into the dinner, Georgie thanks Mandy once again for inviting his family over, while Meemaw compliments Mary for making her son happy. At this point, Jim leaves to the kitchen to get another beer, and Audrey follows to stop him. A big fight ensues between both, and Mary decides to leave and walks out. Georgie stops her and says it's okay and that they fight all the time, to which Mary reveals that she walked out because them arguing reminded of how she and George would argue during thanksgiving. She breaks down, telling that she won't be able to do it anymore, and Georgie consoles her. She still decides to leave, but Georgie suggests of a better idea.

Later that night the Coopers are seen eating pumpkin pie in front of George. Sr's grave. Mary remarks that it's nice and Georgie responds affirmatively. Missy on the other hand, sarcastically adds that it ain't creepy at all. All of a sudden, Mary discovers the tattoo on Missy's ankle and yells at her. Meanwhile, at the McAllisters' house, Connor plays his accordion along with Dale who plays his guitar. They are joined by Mandy, Connie, Audrey and a passed out Jim on the couch. The episode ends with Connie remarking to Mandy that it's better than camping, while Audrey knocks Jim at his knees, and yet he doesn't wake up from his slumber.
