"Secrets, Lies and a Chunk of Change" is the third episode of the first season of the American sitcom Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. The episode aired on October 31, 2024.

Summary

Georgie digs into Mandy's past when he discovers she's been hiding thousands of dollars of debt. Meanwhile, Mandy tries to right her wrongs by going back to work.[1]

Plot

In the living room, Georgie comes home and announces his mail comes out to the McCallister house. Georgie is happy that he got his first credit card; and is happy at the velcro. Her parents tell him that the credit cards can get her in trouble. Mandy reveals that she spent a lot of money via credit card. Mandy asks Georgie to clean her up while she cleans up; she tells him her parents that she does not want to tell him about the credit card debt. They tell her that secrets are not great. Connor comes in and talks about secrets and says his “secret” was a “friendship” with Jay Leno, a “fact” that raises incredulity.

At the restaurant La Puerta Roja Cantina, they talk about their “learned” lessons, including one by his dad; that lesson turned out to be from a work by William Shakespeare. Later that night before they go to sleep, Mandy confesses she owes $12,000, which was overheard by her parents.

The next day at the tire shop, Georgie pours some coffee and Jim tries to make small talk, but it is very awkward due to the previous night. Georgie asks about the credit card debt and if he knew about it; Jim did know but did not reveal it. Georgie was not happy about it, and Jim wants to ignore it. Rueben walks in and Georgie asks about his opinions on it. He is surprised about it, but refuses to get involved. He also reveals that his sister was in fact his mother because she got pregnant at 16, and is Catholic, so he was raised by his grandparents as their child, and his "mother" pretended to be his sister.

Later that night, Mandy decides to come clean and shows her bills from the credits cards she opened; There was a visa, mastercard, and Discover in there. Looking through there, Georgie is curious at a hospital bill, that occurred in New York City. Mandy explains that she was dating a person named Nick, and he injured himself, and received treatment at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, and she paid for the entire medical bill, but refuses to reveal his name. The next day, Georgie asks Jim about the ex-boyfriend, and gets the information.

Georgie visits the ex-boyfriend who is revealed to be Nick. He welcomes Georgie into his place, and agrees to write a check to give the money back. He points out that the road to recovery includes not drinking but Nick takes exception to beer, which does “not count”. As Nick writes a check, he reveals tha the fell down a flight of stairs after Mandy broke up with him. He asks if they are still in Texas, but Georgie lies saying they are in Alabama. Georgie takes the check to the Medford Mutual Bank, of which a bank teller says the check is no good due to insufficient money. As he walks out, Nick comes in and offers to get hem the money; at that moment, he puts on a ski mask and demands the money, making Georgie run out.

At the dinner table, they eat, and Mandy says she can work at the diner to earn money. Georgie says he can use the tow truck to help people with flat tires. Jim says he won’t work the truck then band and Audrey can put tacks on Main streets to pop tires. Georgie also reveals he can ge the police to give them some business and calls after they buy some softball uniforms and money in the charity drive. Some night later, Georgie is given business and after fixing flat tires on Main Street, and Offcier Lisa Gilroy drives by and thanks him for the softball uniforms.
