I.Q. Unlimited Computer was released in 1989.
General Information
The I.Q. Unlimited Computer, also known as the Advantech I.Q. Unlimited Computer, is a portable computer with a QWERTY keyboard and numeric keypad. It features a built in 20 character LCD screen, a video output to connect the unit to a TV. The computer can be run with a 12 volt AC adaptor, 4 C size batteries and 4 AA batteries for data retention. It features many typical computer features such as a word processor, calculator, a database, and other programs. The computer has 64 KB of static RAM data storage. You can use the unit either with it's built in 20 character LCD screen or a regular TV or video monitor. When using the LCD screen, only 8 of the 12 applications can be used, Some of the more visually involved programs cannot be used. The unit has a carrying handle and a printer port on the back, there are also composite video and RF out sockets with a channel 3/4 switch. It's important to know that the video output functions only work when the unit is connected to mains power. Many of the applications such as the word processor, can be used in either 40 or 80 column text mode when the machine is connected to a television set. The I.Q. Unlimited is compatible with at least some Socrates cartridges. Data from programs such as word processor documents, spreadsheets, graphs, databases, calendar entries, and other files are stored in static RAM, which requires power to retain its contents, so if the batteries go flat or are removed, all data will be lost.
