See-A-Sound Phonics was released in 1994.

General Information

See-A-Sound Phonics teaches children about the alphabet, letters, letter sounds, and words. It does this through using cassette tapes. The unit comes with 2 workbooks and 4 cassette tapes. The cassettes contain voice instructions, and activities and games and practice exercises for the user to complete, the tapes contain both audio for listening, and data which contains the activity and animation data. The voice instructions on the cassette explain a concept, then the user is giving the opportunity to complete a task. If the task to complete is in a workbook, you'll be told which page to go to, the unit will then display the activity and question number for which it requires an answer. Each time you play a tape, the activities and questions are always the same. Once the unit has loaded the data for the activity you're completing, the tape stops moving until you answer the question, then the unit runs the tape to load the data for the next question. If you play one of the tapes in a regular stereo tape deck, you'll hear the data track through the left channel and the audio track through the right channel. You can also play regular cassettes in the See-A-Sound Phonics, you need to set the mode to music mode to ensure this feature works correctly. The unit also has 2 built in games. In game mode, the cassette player cannot be used as it's not required to play the built in games. The unit has a headphone socket and a volume control.
