Zocolidae were a family of microscopic brown worms that were found on many worlds throughout the galaxy. It was believed that these worms may have been responsible for crucial ecological processes that helped remove toxic chemicals from the planets' soils, rendering the worlds inhabitable.[1]
A remarkable concentration of Zocolidae was found on the Outer Rim world Tatooine. At the time of the Galactic Civil War, an ongoing study by the Vinda'a BioChemical Laboratories focused on a minor variant, the G. Zocolidae Amedus on Tatooine. The study tried to find commercial applications for the worm's biological biochemistry.[1]
