Ya-Ya Melodies was a band in the galaxy that[1] by 3 ABY[2] had performed the song "This Cantina Can't Contain Us." The song's cover art featured the band's name written prominently in Aurebesh.[1] By the same year,[2] "This Cantina Can't Contain Us" had been added to various jukeboxes in the Outer Rim's Akiva system. These included the jukeboxes at The Alcazar cantina in the capital city Myrra and the cantina in the town Sashin, both located on the jungle planet Akiva; as well as the jukebox at the Achra Station cantina in orbit over Akiva. The band shared their name with the ya-ya fly, an insect found on Akiva.[1]
Behind the scenes
Ya-Ya Melodies was mentioned in the video game Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment, published by Ubisoft[1] and released on August 30, 2024.[3] In the game, the band's name is shown to players when they are selecting songs from the jukeboxes in the Akiva system.[1] "This Cantina Can't Contain Us" was composed for the game by Cody Matthew Johnson[4] and released the same day as the game[5] as part of the soundtrack Songs from the Underworld (Original Music from Star Wars Outlaws), which listed the Ya-Ya Melodies as a "Featured Artist."[4]
