The YV-330 light freighter was a YV series light freighter produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. It was 26 meters long, and its stock configuration included a twin weapons mounting beneath the cockpit. Although YV-series ships were not as easily customized as the earlier YT series, a number of standard upgrades were available, including an enhanced sensor package.[1]
In addition, YV-330 freighters were often modified with heavier weaponry.[2]
At least one YV-330, the Emerald Lance was used by the Corellian Security Forces for sting operations against pirates. Although it appeared to be a vulnerable civilian freighter, it had sacrificed much of its freight capacity to carry a very powerful concealed armament, and attackers would discover that the ship was truly a match for them.[1]
Behind the scenes
The only source of detailed statistics for the YV-330 is an article in Star Wars Gamer 2, which describes the Emerald Lance. The Emerald Lance is a heavily modified ship, and details such as its hyperdrive rating and crew and passenger complement cannot be taken as valid for a standard YV-330; but its external appearance is said to be identical to stock configuration apart from its more powerful sensor array, so the prominent chin turret in the accompanying illustration can be assumed to be a feature of the basic design.[1]
