X-124D was an orbital probe droid that was part of an Imperial network of such probes that witnessed the catastrophic end of the Invasion of Ziost. The energy released by Vitiate disabled technology across the globe, sending the orbital probes crashing to the planet's surface. The memory cores of many of the probes, including X-124D, were scavenged to gather data on the event, though the droid reactivated upon an initial attempts and was destroyed in order to retrieve the core.[2]
Behind the scenes
X-124D was added to the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan in Game Update 3.2: Rise of the Emperor,[2] which was released on April 28, 2015.[3] The Daily Mission "Looking for Signs" involves retrieving memory cores of crashed probes, which often causes the targeted droid to rise up and attack the player. X-124D is one of four rare enemies—the others being X-R37T, X-662J, and X-361D—that can spawn during this mission in place of a standard probe; destroying it and destroying all four both unlock a hidden achievements.[2]
