Databank

It would be nice to have a bot scan the article for Databank rips. --SparqMan 19:52, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • It would be nice to know how to make one. -- Riffsyphon1024 20:38, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Purpose

Similar to our discussions on the role of VFD at Wookieepedia, I think it's time for us to consider the role of Copyvio. 90% of the listings here are not possible copyright violations, they are clear violations, most often from CUSWE or the Databank. This page should be used for cases where it is unclear if the page's partial or whole content consists of material protected by copyright and require investigation and/or confirmation of release. I move that the standard operation procedure for articles consisting entirely of copyright protected material should be simple: blank the page and place a simple stub. If a section of an article is clearly a lifted paragraph from a source we know would not release the content, then just delete the offending paragraph and make a note of it on the talk page so that other contributors can rewrite the missing content. Thoughts? --SparqMan 01:20, 2 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I agree. Though copyvio message says the page will be deleted in 1 week if the copyright status is not clarified, what we actually get is a big amount of pages freezed with only the copyvio message due to the message itself says not to edit "for the moment". --Thinortolan 13:12, 9 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Requests

There are 12 temporary articles under Category:Temporary pages. Most of these are good enough to be restored to their original pages. Can someone please do so? MyNz 08:34, 29 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Automated?

Is it possible to make this page dynamic somehow, so that the copyvio tag would automatically update this page? And if so, would it be desirable? jSarek 21:51, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes: see User:Silly Dan/Copyvio sandbox. We'd have to adjust the instructions in the copyvio template to get it to work properly, but I like the idea. —Silly Dan (talk) 00:48, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Not sure if this is the proper forum, but the Wookieepedia logo is a copyright problem. The image page File:Wiki.png says the image is available under the terms of the GNU Free documentation license, but it's just a screenshot of the death star with the background removed and some text added. Unless you have permission from Lucasarts or whoever own the movies the logo can not be released under GFDL or any other free license. At the very least the image should be tagged as fair use instead. It's protected though so a sysop will have to do that. --Sherool 23:21, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
