Keep
- While unimportant articles of clothing normally aren't worth an article, I think "pants" differs. There *was* an actual BtS controversy about Chewbacca wearing them, and the "pants running joke" alone I think is noteworthy enough to justify the article. jSarek 10:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- If sunglasses are in, this is in. Welcome to the wide world of meaningless. Be sure to checkout the important content soon to be located at ball and door. --SparqMan 06:54, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep because the author laid some work into it, pants are not fanon, contains information, and the article is well-written. —Unsigned comment by TopAce (talk • contribs)

Someone was smoking some bad spice when they wrote this...Wait, is spice even smoked? -- SFH 03:11, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I fail to see how this is more silly than sunglasses. Pants seem to be much more prevalent in the GFFA. --SparqMan 20:02, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Good point. I suppose sunglasses needs a VFD nomination too. I don't see how items that are no different in the GFFA than they are in real life merit articles. Unless you think we should also create articles for shoes, air, sand, hair, etc. As for controversy about Chewbacca's lack of pants, his article has a BtS section for a reason. Red XIV 06:51, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- I don't particularly like pants, but I see the need for an article on them. Darth Culator 12:51, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oxygen should stay, because it says that some species could not breathe oxygen, which is good information. Sunglasses and pants doesn't have any good information. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Sunglasses establishes the fact that sunglasses existed, which is not that obvious. - Sikon [Talk] 13:16, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- The existence of pants, however, is obvious. If this survives...do we also get articles for shirt, Underwear/Legends|underwear, socks, and hat? Oh, and "we've had worse" isn't a good reason to keep something. Red XIV 18:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I'd be fine with a VfD for sunglasses, since the fact that they exist without further information isn't encyclopedia worthy. However, pants is different - there are two notable Behind the Scenes phenomena worth noting about them that make the article worthwhile. There's no such notability as of yet for shirts, underwear, socks, or hats. jSarek 21:27, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, Lucas did supposedly tell Carrie Fisher that "there is no underwear in space." :-P -- Ozzel 22:24, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- The bit about Chewbacca is perhaps notable, but as I noted before, his own article has a BtS section where it can be included. The Internet joke doesn't seem terribly notable, and I'm pretty sure the phenomenon of inserting "pants" in various quotes is not specific to the Star Wars fandom. Red XIV 04:43, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's not. I've seen the pants thing on video game message boards as well. Back to the isue at hand: besides the "pants" internet fad (which is not SW-specific), we got two things: Han's Corellian Bloodstripes (which are mentioned in numerous sources, IIRC) and the BTS about Chewbacca. This is more than we can say about the "sunglasses" article. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 23:19, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- That much is true, but we have a Corellian Bloodstripe article already, and I reiterate that Chewbacca's lack of pants and the controversy thereof should simply be put in his own article's BTS. As for sunglesses, I've VFDed that article now. Red XIV 03:01, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

"Pants are a vital and important part of Star Wars culture." Is this a joke vote? Please tell me it is. Red XIV 02:25, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- I would never joke. Pants are a very serious issue. -Dark Spork 04:31, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've got to agree with her. Regardless of whether the "pants" thing sees use elsewhere is irrelevant; it's a deep-seated meme in Star Wars fandom that needs explication, and a "Pants" article is the best place to do it. jSarek 08:19, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's a general Internet meme, not exclusive to the Star Wars fandom or derived specificly from Star Wars. If the fad is to be documented somewhere, I suggest Wikipedia. Red XIV 10:47, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, but Star Wars is one of the first, and certainly the most well known. Do not underestimate the powers of the pants. -Dark Spork 14:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

New suggestion
How about a List of clothing article? That way, instead of having each clothing article, it could be a section in this. That way, the information will remain in, as I see it, a more proper place. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 01:00, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- I was actually about to suggest this myself. Presumably, then, sunglasses could be included in that as well. This could be a similar concept to the "list of unnamed vehicles" that Justin Gann worked on a while back. - Breathesgelatin 21:42, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
I think that would be a great idea, This should be done.Fatguy2006 21:47, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- That way, whenever a clothing article is created, it could be made a redirect to that article, instead of being VFD'ed. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)
